Keeping Your Toddler Converse Clean
Toddler Converse are very fashionable and functional for your child which makes them great for everyday wear. Your child will be attracted to the bright colors no doubt and surely want to wear them regularly. This is great for mom since there is no struggle with the shoe choice, however, keeping them looking new can be challenging with the extra wear and tear these fast movers put on them.
Here are some easy steps to help keep you toddler converse sneakers looking like new longer:
Pretreat When They Are New
If you want to get ahead of the game you can pretreat the sneakers prior to wearing with any canvas or suede waterproofing product. Along with warding off dirt and grime, the pretreating will give your new toddler converse a mild waterproofing.
Basic Cleaning for Your Toddler Converse
Using a toothbrush and a mixture of mild detergent and water is the simplest way to remove everyday dirt from the shoes. Just add a few drops of dish or laundry detergent to a cup of warm water and use the toothbrush to gently scrub the canvas. Be sure to allow them time to dry completely before wearing.
A solution of ivory soap and a bit of bleach will work well to keep the white rubber soles looking new. You just want to be careful not to get the mixture on the canvas as the bleach may discolor the fabric.
Removing Yellow Staining from White Canvas Converse
Yellow stains can occur if you tried to clean your white canvas with bleach. If this has happened, try mixing about a half cup of cream of tartar (get this in the spice isle of your supermarket) with a quart of water and soak the shoes overnight. Rinse and allow to dry thoroughly before wearing.
It is not recommended that you put your toddler converse in the washing machine or dryer since the adhesives used in manufacturing tend to break down quicker and will cause the sneakers to deteriorate.
